The naming conundrum came about as the public works department is getting ready to replace the hamlet's signs as part of the municipality's corporate branding project. After researching the area's first families, it was concluded the community and body of water were both named Musselman Lake, according to a report coming to council. The province's Ministry of Transportation refers to the vil- lage as Musselman's Lake, while the Ministry of Natural Resources identifies the water as Musselman's Lake, however, Google maps indicates the village is Musselman's Lake, while the water is Musselman Lake. A recent survey conducted by the Musselman's Lake Residents Association indicated 81 per cent of those polled prefer Musselman's Lake.
