At the opening reception tonight, Governor General award winner for visual and media arts, Nobuo Kubota, will give a sound poetry performance. Sculpture, photography and works on paper that relate directly to Mr. Kubota's performance will also be on display. Louise Noguchi, as part of her Shanghai Dragon series, has created towering otherworldly forms out of pink Styrofoam that resemble robotic misfits. Naomi Yasui uses the gallery's walls to create an alchemical apothecary in her Alchemical Vessel series, which is a collection of 59 porcelain vessels that each represent one of the 59 elements of Torber Bergman's 1775 table. Akira Yoshikawa, who was a part the gallery's 2008 exhibition Order/Disorder: A Sculpture Show, returns with new pieces that investigate order and chaos.
