Policing group marks 10 years in Stouffville In celebration of servâ€" ing the community for 10 years, the Stouffville Polic- ing Centre swore in 18 new volunteers. The Stouffville Oomâ€" munity Policing Centre was created to communiâ€" cate the needs of residents to the York Region Police and to assist with non- emergencies. NON-EMERGENCIES Some of the activities volunteers have partici- pated in include the bike rodeos at the Stouflville and Ballantme fire halls, the Terry Fox Run and Remembrance Day cer- emonies. At the annual general meeting held earlier this week, awards were given out to a number of vol- unteers. George Milroy was named Volunteer of the Year 2010, Cyndi McConnell earned the Chairman’s Choice 2010 Award, while Scott Lonergan and Shaen Armstrong were hon- oured for their Long- standing Service to the Board of Directors. Ten-year recognition certificates were given to Const. Alwyn Vanden- Berg, Shaen Armstrong, Steve Pickard, Carole Langford, Bill Burnett, Wendy Cartwright and Ray Barr. A new board of dinecâ€" tors was also elected. Joanne lannuzzi was ne- elected as dlairpetsonand lama Gallo ~ was named co-chairperson. At about 2:15 p.m., two suspects pulled up to the victim, who was in the centre’s parking lot. The vicj tim approached the vehicle and one of the suspects inside the vehicle pointed a knife at him and demanded he get into the vehicle.
