The Stouffville Storm mites won the bronze medals at the Ontario Amateur Softball Asso- ciation championships after winningthree games while losing two in Palm- erston last weekend. The St'orm then lost 4-3 to Walkerton. The Storm rebounded to mercy Belleville 16-2. Eizenga and Ribi each belted a triple and a single while Fasullo had a tri- ple, Menzies two singles, McKnight one hit and one walk. laden Spylo, Gloyns, Messina, Stewart-Kup- pek, and Wannamaker each drew two walks, and Ianuzziello and Francella had one walk. With a berth in the medal round on the line, the Storm faced Ennis- more and required extra innings to pull out a dra- matic 6-5 win. Menzies propelled the offense with a triple while Fasullo had a double, Biz- enga, Gloyns, lanuzziello, Ribi and Stewart-Kuppek each had singles, McK- night one single and one walk, Francella two walks, and Messina, Spylo and Wannamaker each drew awalk. The Storm saw their tournament hopes come to an end after falling 18-6 to Walkerton in the gold- medal qualifier. TEAM COMPUMENTS Ribi led the Storm’s offensive charge with a triple and a single while Menzies and Messina each had a triple, Gloyns one single and two walks, Fasullo two walks, and lor- dan Ianuzziello and lor- dan Stewart-Kuppek each drewawalk. Storm head coach Terry Eizenga could not say enough about all his players and coaches, and the way the team over- came adversity defenâ€" sively to rally and support each other. Assistant coaches Dale Wannamaker, Bill McK- night and Josh Eizenga received several compli- ments on their team and the excellence of the char- acter of the players from tournament ofiicials and rival coaches and players.
