The news, which was pleasant in nature, did not surprise Garrick. 15, as it conï¬rmed hewasdrafted in the Ontario Hockey League's annual priority selection. The Mississauga-St. Michael's Majors took the sixâ€"foot, two-inch, 165~pound Carrick 85th overall with their ï¬fth-round pick “It sure felt great," said Garrick, a defenceman with the Markham Majors minor midgets this past sea- son. “l'm really excited." Compiling six goals and 23 assists in 49 games for the Majors this past season, Garrick said he wasn't disap- pointed in being a ï¬fth-round pick Based on what preâ€"draft gossip cir- culated, Garrick revealed it met his expectations. ’“I heard 1 would be taken anyâ€" wherefrom the third to sixth rounds," he said. Carrick awaits board meetings with brothers Saying he had no preferences as to which team would take him, Car- n'ck feels he’s in a good situation in going to the Majors. E§pecially since they play their home games relatively close to his Stouffville-area home. Acknowledging the thought of possibly playing alongside one of his brothers would have been nice, Trevor said it will be just as fun to play against both of them if he can earn a spot on the Majors' roster next season.
