Whitchurch-Stoufli'ville golfers, including lake Woolâ€" nough, are hitting the links earlier than ever this year. and with the course being situated on some of the higher elevations of the Oak Ridges Moraine, Mr. Chan said they had days when they could operate for a few days before remnants of Old Man Wmter reappeared and forced the course to close for a few days. While the club has allowed golfers to take to the links a little earlier than in the past, Mr. Chan said for the first few weeks they only allowed players to walk the course until course conditions firm up. Later this week, he anticipates the course will allow players to ride carts. “EQen though we haven't allowed people to use power carts, they still love being outside, getting exercise and getting the kinks out," Mr. Chan said. Wliile not opening as early as the Maples of Ballan- trae, up Hwy. 48 the Ballantrae Golf and Country Club began its 11th season of operation last Thursday. John McLellan, Ballantrae's manager since Day 1, acknowledged its the earliest they’ve allowed golfing to take place on their 18-hole, 6.674-yard facility. EARLIEST OPENING EVER “We actually opened one week ahead of normal." he said. “It’s definitely our earliest opening. “In the last two years at this juncture (early April). we had to wait for the little bits of snow to melt. Right now, the course is in terrific shape. We’re two to three weeks ahead weather With the earlier-than-normal opening, the club pros note the golfing public has had the itch to get on the course. As a result, business has been booming. "The people are excited to be playing so early,” Mr. Chan said. “The first couple of weeks we’ve done well and our weekends have been busy." “People are anxious to play, but there's so many places where they can go. Some courses even opened the middle of March," Mr. McLellan said. “But we’re glad to be open. We had a busy weekend." 7 Business booming on local courses From page 1. 905-642-51 1 1 0 3M Scotchguard - LOOSE HUGS 0 BROADLOOM - UPHOLSTEHY SUN-TRIBUNE Fifi PHOTO WASHER DRYER 04.00041 011mm OWWash 0W” ohmmheater 0mm”?! oIOOOBPMspinspeed ownridebmwde osGDlelencarafing clauscarecycle WASHER omen-n omswonun noonmsmsma ommm nmwaysm WASHER DRYER 03.40041 o5,7cu-n OBCycles .gcycm “mom oSTempemfismSetflngs °De|ay5tart ownnmesmeu 03SpInSpeeds BOSCH MSRP s1 59800 MSRP MSRP s2598‘” WASHER DRYER '35w-FT o7.1w-Frcapoony HONRPM 45W “WSW -3DrylngTomperamres oEndonycleStoMl oStammsStaelDrum WASHER wow-n oIOOOBPMSpinSpeed OWSMIDmm 014cm” oswvapinSpood Comm osmedmcwle oDelayStarmZHrs) WASHER o4.5w-Fro1aoonm 00mm osuamtho/cle oNlemymcvcle OMSWDmm WLGDCOIMPaneI DRYER claw-Freame cMolstureSonsoer OVarlableendMCycle Signal o4WayVenflng0pflon OUpto10HrsDe|aysum oExmdedmmblecycle DRYER ' o 7.4 cu - FT Capacity - Stnlnloss Steel Drum - Sensor Dryer - LCD lntelllgent Control Panel 0 Steam Smltary Cycle 0 Steam an Cycle MSRP MSRP MSRP
