Staff provided Council with a status report with respect to various collaborative initiatives among the Northern 6 Municipalities of York Region (Aurora. East Gwillimbury, Georgina, King, Newmarket and Whitchurch-Stouffville) and set out the process currently being followed by the six CAOs with respect to the identification of further collaborative initiatives. In 2006, Council endorsed the concept of closer collaboration with neighbouring municipalities in Northern York Region (N6), to review areas of mutual interest in the operational and administrative service areas. The CAO’s continue to find great benefit in the N6 collaborative approach with respect to service delivery, coordination of effort. joint review of emerging issues, and sharing of information, policies and procedures. ROUNDABOUTS FOR TENTH LINE Council endorsed the design concept for Tenth Line south of Main Street, which includes roundabouts for intersection control at Hoover Park Drive and Mantle Avenue. Roundabouts have been implemented successfully at numerous locations in Stouffville improving flow of traffic, reducing delays and achieving significant construction cost savings. A brochure entitled “All You Need to Know on Roundabouts" is available on the Town website and at the Town office on Sandiford Drive. Council were advised that the new operations centre project is within budget and progressing reasonably steadily considering the wet fall weather since the start of construction on October 1, 2009. In anticipation of the new operation centre Council approved that the Town owned lands at 5827 Main Street, currently home to the Town’s Public Works Operation, be declared surplus and sold in accordance with by-law 2008-057-LA “Sale and other disposition of surplus property owned by the Town”. Recommended final sale terms and conditions will come back to Council in open session for final consideration. At the Special meeting on January 26, Council will consider the 2010 Operating and Capital Budget: and the Five Year Forecast.
