There are four key issues the town's staff are having problems with. one of which is the speed along Hwy. 48 within Ballantrae ‘ and Stouffville. Municipal staff want the speed limit along Hwy. 48 from 150 metres north of Bal- lantrae Road/Ballantrae Common through to the 60 km/h mne south of Greenan Road to all be 60km/h. The requested speed decrease is being made because of the traffic signals installed at Hwy. 48 and Ballantrae Road about a year ago and because of Ballantrae's ever- increasing population. “'lhe reduction in the posted speed limit to 60 km/h in the northern portion of Ba]- Iantrae is necessary and overdue because of the population of the community. “it has been a very frustrating process trying to move ahead with our initiatives in the Ballantrae area." said (Ipuncillor Phil \t‘t‘ PLAN, page H at -4 “‘7” 777...“.-- m-._. ._ 7'.._.____v-_v_‘._ . r V ,7 .7 “Mi .1 STAFF PHOTO/NICK IWANYSHYN Prime Minister of Canada Stephen Harper speaks to supporters at St. Panteleimon Greek Orthodox Church Thursday during a stop to honour volunteers and introduce the party’s newest candidates for the next federal election.
