The new 10-screen theatre slated to be built near Major Macken- zie Drive and Markham Road doesn’t yet have an estimated opening date, said Dean Leland, the vice president of marâ€" keting and media for Empire Theatres Limited, the company behind the comingâ€"soon cinema. Ground has not yet been broken on the proj- ect, he said. “We continue to work through the many, many processes involved with the development of a project this size." Town council approved the retail plaza, which the theatre will anchor, last year. That approval, accordâ€" ing to Dennis Flaherty, the town's communica- tions manager, included a number of conditions the developer was required to fulï¬l, including a site plan agreement.
