York Regional Police have part- nered with seven junior hockey teams in the region to produce hock- ey cards containing safety tips and character messages. Each set of cards represents play- ers on one of the junior teams and features the player’s photo and pro- ï¬le along with crime prevention and character messages. 7 The cards will be distributed free of charge at home games of the Aurora Tigers, Newmarket Hur- ricanes, Markham Waxers, Vaughan Vipers, Stouï¬ville Spirit, Georgina Ice and Schomberg Cougars. The cards were introduced at games last night in Markham and Nov. 23 at 3:30 pm. at Ray Money Sports Complex in Newmarket when the Stouffvilie Spirit visits the home- town Hurricanes. The York police mascots will be on hand and members of the police service’s pipes and drums band will perform. Chief Armand La Barge will drop the puck for the ceremonial face-offs. Fans are encouraged to bring donations for the Toys for Tots cam- paign. This campaign, in partner- ship with the Canadian Tire Corp., began in 1996 and collects toys for children during the holiday season.
