One volunteer vacancy exists on the W/S Accessibility Advisory Committee. Applications forms are available online at www.townofws.com/town__committees.asp or in person at the Town Office and Library during regular business hours. Applications will be received until October 22, 2008. The Public Works Department reminds residents that a comprehensive watermain flushing program is performed semi-annually. Watermain flushing will commence the week of October 14th, 2008 with an expected duration of four (4) weeks. The work takes place between the hours of 9:00 am. and 3:30 pm. During the flushing operation, discolouration of the water may occur. Should this occur, let the water run until it clears. Questions and concerns regarding this operation should be directed to the Public Works Department at 905-640-1910 or 905-895-5299 ext. 306. Residents are advised that leaves will only be collected if they are in paper bags or reusable open top containers (excluding cardboard boxes) such as bushel baskets or garbage cans. Plastic bags will not be collected. Non-containerized or non-bagged leaves present traffic and drainage hazards and residents are required to remove them. The Town does not pick up leaves raked, blown or piled along the roads. Yard Waste should be placed curbside for collection by 7:00 a.m. on the collection day. Other materials accepted for collection include leaves, plants, fine brush, tree clippings and branches up to 100 mm (four inches) in diameter and tied in bundles of a maximum length of 1.2 metres (4 feet) and weighing no more than 22 kgs (50 pounds).
