Susan grew up in Toronto and moved to Montreal where she met and married Peter. They returned to Toronto and then Markham ON, where they started their family. before settling in Darien in 1982. Susan had a deep faith and enjoyed services at St. John's and St. Thomas More RC Churches and at Noroton Presbyterian Church. Like her mother, she was a talented artist. particularly known for her charcoals of dogs and wolves. She was also a gourmet cook and volunteered with the Darien Chapter of the Red Cross following Hurricane Katrina, and passed her compassionate nature and love of animals to her son James.
