Stoufi'ville minute, summed up Music Mania The 48th annual song. dance and skit production feattmed a new director, for- mat. site.me Rick lightfme his col- leagues through - four suc- cessful shows. A streamlined arrangement somehow transformed a long two hours into 120 short minutes. The program had a pur- pose, financial support for The Terry Fox Foundation. His words were echoed by wife Liz, co-president of the sponsoring United Church- plus Couples Club. “You did a marvelous job,” the director said. In thanking Music Mania for its generosity, Sandy Schell Kennedy likened the organization to the late Terry Fox, the foundation’s patron saint. “Yours is a passion,” the local Terry Fox Fun co-ordi- natior said of the town tradi- tion. “'IWenty-eight years ago, a young man by the name of Terry Fox had a passion also. That dream continues," she added. Everything was new for town tradition To date, Whitchurch- Stouffville’s run has raised more than $750,000. This year’s goes Sept. 14. According to Mr. Halse. the quartet remains close to home, singing once a month at Springvale. “We don't go out a lot," Halse says. “The only other church has been St. James. We’re looking. forward to a wonderful evening." They'll also sing at the community’s Prayer Break- fast, May 15, at Station Creek Golf Club near Gormley. They represented their church on a float in last year's Santa Claus parade. Roaming Around "We’re not seeking fame or fortune,” he said. "We're happy doing what we’re doing.” The quartet, says Mr. Halse, tries for a balanced music mix including con- temporary, traditional and southern gospel.
