The Town is currently seeking proposals for economic development strategic plan consulting services. Proposals are due at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday April 30, 2008 ROAD IMPROVEMENTS As part of the 2008 provincial budget approved on March 25, the government announced the Municipal Road and Bridge Infrastructure Investment (MRBII), a likely one-time allocation to support local roads infrastructure in municipalities across the province. Council authorized that the funds from MRBII be allocated to the following road improvement projects in the following amounts: Council adopted revised procedures for the development or redevelopment of telecommunications towers, to be consistent with the requirements of Industry Canada, the regulating body for telecommunications across the country. The new procedures include clearer provisions related to public notiï¬cation, consultation and involvement. In addition, proponents installing telecommunications towers are required to seek the approval of the Town prior to installation. 2008 GRANTS AND DONATIONS Councilvapproved the allocation of various grants and donations to community organizations, charitable causes and events, as well as a total of $28,330 in in-kind donations.,Grants and donations in the amount of $93,900 have already been allocated to community organizations, annual events and Town committees as part of the 2008 budget, approved in January. Council deferred approval of the staff recommendations regarding the new Fire Station and Arena Complex. A new meeting date has not been set, but will be published on the Town page and online. Sale of Surplus Land By-hw At its May 6 meeting, Council will consider a draft by-law to establish provisions for the sale and other disposition of surplus land owned by the Town.
