If something had happened, it might have happened to him by now. For the time being, Heidi said there’s no definitive answer as to the severity of Bobby’s ailment. “It’s frustrating," she said. A neurologist at Toronto Western Hospital gave Bobby the green light to play in 2005. The River Rats ordered Bobby to receive further evaluations in Boston Thesday. From there, she said, the family will seek a third opinion from specialists in Toronto. Since the mishap, Hughes has been shut down. GAME NOTES: Participating in shootouts hasn't been friendly to the Stouffville Spirit this year. In Friday’s Provincial Junior A Hockey league road game against the Couchiching Terriers, the Spirit came out on the short end of a 7- 6 decision. The shootout loss was their third in four appearances so far this season, but the first against the Terriers, who they are chasing in the standings, after posting their lone victory against them earlier in the season. The Spirit dug themselves into a deep hole after trailing 3-1 through 20 minutes only to mount a huge rally in the second period to take a 6-4 lead. But the Terriers scored twice early in the final period to tie the game and force what would be a scoreless five-minute overtime period before going into a shoot- out In the shootout, Corey Trivino, James McIntosh and Jonathan Cristini each scored for the Spirit But the game was decided when the Terriers' fifth shooter, Leiland Gauley, potted the game-winning marker. Darren Archibald scored twice in regulation time for the Spirit, including once on a power play. McIntosh, with another power- play marker, Ethan Werek, Mark Sullivan and Cristini accounted for the other Spirit goals. The Spirit outshot the Terriers 38-33. Continuing their road foray Satur- day in Seguin, which was their third game in as many nights, the Spirit took a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes and extended it to 4-1 through 40. After the Bmins scored the first two goals of the third period within a 42-second span to cut their deficit to within a goal, the Spirit breathed a sigh of relief after exploding with six unanswered goals to take a commanding 10â€"3 advantage. Both clubs exchanged two goals each down the stretch to round out the scoring. Tnvino and Werek each scored twice for the Spirit. Spirit GM Tom Milne still has one card left to use should the club make an addition. Werek leads the Spirit in scoring with 22 goals and 34 assists in 29 games and is tied for 28th in the overall league scoring race. Trivino is in a tie for 32nd overall with 13 goals and 42 assists in 31 games. McIntosh, who is third in team scoring, is in a tie for 39th place in the overall race with 24 goals and 29 assists for 53 points. GENERALLY SPEAKING: “It was a game I thought we should have won," McIntosh said of Friday’s loss. “We made a couple of little mistakes in the third period and they capitalized on them. “Even in the shootout, our first two shooters scored and we still ended up losing." He felt Saturday’s game shouldn’t have been as close as it was. “We definitely let our guard down a bit," he said. “But I think some of the older guys on the squad stepped up their game and took hold of thingslhese are the games (against teams below them in the standings) that we have to win. At the start of the year we weren't doing that and it's hurt us in the standings.” INSIDER: For live scoring and updates, go to pointstreakcom For more on the Spirit, go to: stouffvillespiritcom Listen to Spirit games live at whistleradiocom Dustin Laren, Sullivan, Corey Ful- ton, Cristini, Tyler Gubb and Craig McDowell each added singles.
