first of all purchased then the existing staff would have to be enlarged and hired on a full time basis the single advantage seems to be that the cost of ice would go down that there would be more time available for local hockey teams if the town did acquire the arena i can find a number of parents myself in cluded who would be in line deman ding some of that extra 13 hours per week being used for public skating it seems as if an additional arena would be more of an advantage lets en courage a kinsman this week in hopes that they build one close for novices stouffville everything came in determined to finish better on his second figure peter scored perfectly with all five judges the third figure placed peter in the lead as he scored top marks again the second portion of the competition is the most exciting free style skating shows off the in novative talents of the skater and peter obviously pleased the judges who awarded this competition to him these competitions are sectional this competition coming in the central ontario region and held in torontos lakeshore arena there are four regions in ontario and one in each of the other ten provinces each region sends thursday ladies stouffville this past saturday the intermediate spartans travelled to bayview secondary school in richmond hill to participate in the 7th annual referees tournament the first opponents were from richmond hill high school and after a close game the spartans emerged with a low scoring 21 18 victory leading scorers for stouffville were terry plaskitt with 8 points and bruce rodin with 6 this first win put the stouffville team in the semi finals against markham and the team members found their shooting eyes to post a 40 19 victory leading the spartans in this victory were bruce rodin with 14 points and randy barber and jeremy williamson with 6 barry doner had 4 points the championship game once again saw the stouffville team facing richmond hill high school who had defeated king city by 2 points earlier in the day however they could not penetrate the tough defense put up by the spartans especially gord fockler jeremy williamson and terry plaskitt leading the team to their 34 20 victory offensively were bruce rodin with 9 points and randy barber with 8 three straight victories led the stouffville spartans to their first cham pionship in the referees tour nament
