300 attended a sunday service in the auditorium of parkside youth centre the gathering one of several meetings held in conjunction with vision crusade included a program geared mainly to the interests of young people although persons of all ages and many denominations were present for pastor david barker of the stouff- v i 1 1 e memorial christian church the turnout was a persona triumph for he had witnessed similar successes elsewhere in canada and england he was confident such a service would be accepted in stouf fville the planning that went into the program was tremendous but the results were rewarding it stirred people to think said mr barker the response was very real in the attempt at personal contact both doortodoor and on the street the results were mixed both en couraging and disappointing the most difficult to reach were the older people mr barker said however he pointed out the young people were very receptive the campaign that began on good friday concluded with a rally you sharon tranmer student actress with talent by mark niblett stouffville a good crowd was present march 30 to see two productions by theatre arts students at stouffville district secondary school the audience received the performances war mly the first production molieres sgana- relle was an ambitious project the style and dialogue of an 18thcentury dramatist are difficult even for experienced actors but the young thespians managed to convey it quite well geoff aiken in the title role gave a well- rounded performance although he like the rest of the cast was overshadowed by sharon tranmer miss tranmer playing sganarelles wife was by far the most out standing during in termissions the high school band gave vigorous renditions of several tunes i must confess to a certain doubt about the necessity of a second intermission between the first and second acts of arsenic and old lace in this production the students faced the problem of a familiar and popular work which has been done professionally many times the roles of miss abby and miss martha were played with convincing confidence by cathy king and judy taylor miss king admittedly lost a bit of her aplomb when she sat down on a chair that wasnt there but then who wouldnt the other roles were adequately portrayed dale claughton playing teddy brewster obviously felt his part and carried it through well fortyvoice choir
