series of articles have been prepared by the farm safety council to point out the hazards of machine operation and cite specific accidents that have occurred in this area the tribune is pleased to publish the second item in the series this week jack warriner 43 cone 7 markham owns a 150 dairy and pig farm the father of four schoolaged children he has far med all his adult life but a recent ac feb 23 mr warriner was loading corn from a round granary into a truck a tractordriven auger was used to load about 16 tons of corn into the truck finally the truck was filled and the tractor was put on idle the 47 foot long auger is inside a long pipe with the open drive shaft un derneath i was standing beside the auger and i wanted to move it out of the granary as i was pulling it out the bottom of my coat got caught in the shaft in a split second i was in it it tore my coat off except for my left sleeve the shear pin on the drive shaft was cut but before the coat ripped it was wound around
