opening night reception tickots at the door or phone 6402744 opening night 300 other nights 200 and 150 dear sir there is a saying we are hiding our light under a bushel this in my own personal opinion is the direct opposite of saying we are number one in the business world there is also a saying it pays to advertise meaning in big letters recognition no exact value in dollars and cents can be at tached to this label as a newcomer to whitchurch stouff ville and having a certain feeling of being accepted and in a small way con tributing i feel i must speak out and hopefully get my message across as a taxpayer family man father of four good sons and very happily settled in whitchurch stouffville here is that message let us each in our own way stand together to promote stouffville the centre of our community life i have travelled ex tensively throughout the province on business and i regret to say only a few know the name of stouff ville let alone how to spell it or even where it is located this in my opinion is unfortunate to get to the nitty gritty one important way we can let the rest of ontario know about stouffville is through sports in particular hockey let us reflect for a moment what has been achieved through sports in our com munity quite apart from the benefits in character and body building on an in dividual basis stouffville has produced ontario champions in hockey baseball and lacrosse three times have had teams in the ontario finals five times during the seasons 1968 69 to the present time at the moment our midget and bantam hockey teams are competing for an ontario cham pionship let us all get out to these final games support them and make again were number one a reality another matter of importance which our community is overlooking is of a visual nature where are the pennants in dicating our honors won certainly not hanging in our arena for our competition to see no permanent signs at each end of stouffville to let the hundreds of thousands of travellers passing through our town each year know what has been accomplished it is up to us in the community with the backing of our local elected ad ministration to correct an injustice which has been done our young people not to forget the dedicated older generation who are backing them up attraction singer elizabeth hedges is the next attraction coming to the sherwood park restaurant and tavern in markham she opens april 4 and remains through april 15 the pennants should be displayed in the rink and the signs on main street should be in position now finley macdonald
