accident while pouring gas into a heated tractor as in many farm mishaps this one happened so quickly and involved a routine that farmers repeat year after year without incident but in this case there was a flash fire and mr davidson was caught in the middle the veteran farmer his brother and a hired hand had started early in the day to fill a silo a tractor was being used to drive the blower when the machine ran out of fuel a workman went to the pump filled a five gallon can and poured it into the tractor mg bruce davidson then mr davidson decided to fill the tractor gas tank with another five gallons so the work could con tinue without in terruption the machine was stopped and the engine was off so i climbed up on the tractor opened the cap and began pouring the fuel some gas spilled over blast hitting him directly because the gas can was thrown clear of the blaze the fire was restricted to a leg but one of my hands was burned as i fell to the ground and rolled about it burned about a minute while others helped me get the blaze out he was taken to a stouffville doctor who bandaged his leg and sent him home the burns were worse than i thought but i continued my chores that day and next however two days after the accident i became cold and i was unable to work i found i couldnt stand still and i had to keep moving around he explained mr davidson was required to see his doctor daily even after the badages were removed gradually the blisters healed and he resumed light work things have now- returned to normal although mr davidson has scars on his leg and hands as a reminder of the ac cident it was the first such incident in his many years at farming and he is still not certain what sparked the blaze that caused the fire most observers the saps running at bruces mill the district the people criticised the motor car when it was first developed argued councillor bob at- tersley but all who criticized it still went out and bought one in the same way he continued those who criticize the airport will end up using it councillor attersley also likened the op position to those who want sidewalks as long as theyre not constructedroniitheir side of the street he suggested that rather than condemn the location as it now is the council should have recommended a site when the issue was first considered he called the airport a great advantage to the community he warned however that vla extension filed ballantrae the felray subdivision here has received a cautious approval from provincial planners at a whitchurch stouffville planning board meeting march 7 a letter was received from the community planning branch of the department of municipal affairs it revealed that the official plans section has studied the proposed phase 2 expansion and con cluded that it could be construed as con forming with the towns official plan the letter warned however that a secondary plan would be required before any future subdivision in the hamlet would be considered planning board members did not appear inclined to re open the matter chairman tom lonergan observed that phase 2 has been discussed at some length and was turned down by a resolution of council other
