youngsters competed in the recent central ontario figure skating cham pionships widely- considered to be the toughest jn canada peter mellon 12 of tindale ave turned in the most outstanding performance peter who has only been skating for 3 years placed third in the novice mens division this was the first time he had entered the competition and he was pitted against a large field of entrants jane brodi e daughter of dr and mrs doug brodie glad park ave placed fourth in the novice ladies com petition another local girl nancy yakeley of rri goodwood placed fourth in the semifinals narrowly missing the finals frank mellon president of the stouffville figure skating club said he was very proud of his son peters per formance much of the credit he observed is due to the instructors
