to all ratepayers of the northern sections of wards 1 and 2 in pickering township dear ratepayers once again it i election time and aeain i am frustrated that i cannot speak to you at your ratepayers meetings etc i want to listen 10 your views and in turn present to you my views with respect to what is best for pickering township as a whole to date i have received no invitations to speak and in polling other candidates 1 find the same applies to them hence this letter my qualifications for he position of deputyreeve are that i think 1 am particularly suited because i hove lived the best part of my life as an urban dweller in east york toronto and the past 12 years as a rural dweller grecnwood area which gives me an insight to the problems con nected with urban and rural thinking and like oil and water the two are not compatible 1 am wholeheartedly in favour of this township being annexed to metro toronto however i feel that the proposed boundaries of everything south of seven highway too far north 1 fee that concession 4 would be a good dividing line and in turn that portion of the township north of highway 7 could retain its rural identity as a new township or as part of uxbridge this however would be your decision in my capacity as vice president of the ontario private campgrounds association 1 have negotiated with many ministers and deputy ministers at queens park and i feel these contacts could be of immense value to the township in any further nego tiations in order that we will net become just antoher bedroom for toronto i am including in this letter the results of the last election re to metro or to oshawa or remain the same and i think it will make interesting reading for you you will notice that the figure of 4 to 1 favour of toronto is completely misleading it was in fact 194 to 1 in favour of metro toronto with 1099 voting to stay as is someone added the 1099 as is to the 199 to oshawa to arrive at the 4 to 1 figure results of poll re regional government 1969 advance poll 26 for metro 0 for oshawa i for remain same to i separate eligible oshawa from either voters voters i voted 25 234 676 3692 182 80 445 938 4064 257 43 184 1286 3526 322 184 25 128 of last winter i would like to give mention to the numerous snowmobile clubs who gave of their time and effort to patrol township roads during those same snow storms proving to me there is a place in our society for snowmobiles i make no apologies for the fact i am a grandfather with four sons and five grandchildren and still in my fifties because i feel that this is the time for maturity in
