extended illness he was in his 40th year the funeral service on sunday was conducted from trinity united church with interment in the uxbridge cemetery- deceased is survived by his wife the former charlotte cocks a son and daughter david and debbie and his parents mr and mrs alfred mills chatham on aug 8th a miscellanous shower was held for lynn insley mrs lillian jones and mrs zelma boceia bridesmaids they were dressed in dotted swiss gowns of mauve the bride wore a floorlength gown and train of white polyester crepe with lace trim and a shoulderlength veil she carried a single mauve orchid and white stephanotis gerald dean brother of the groom was best man ushers were robert dean and douglas taylor for her travelling outfit the new mrs dean wore a mauve hotpant suit with white daisy trim and accessories the young couple spent their honeymoon in ottawa and northern ontario community barbecue for atha residents mr and mrs ronald dean married july 17 in zion united church cedar grove the death occurred at kingston ontario on friday aug 20 of mrs phyllis sharpe of markham she was in her 65th year deceased was the former phyllis hughes and her husband the late sidney valentine sharpe predeceased her some time ago she is survived by one son stephen of markham the funeral service on monday was con ducted from grace anglican church with interment in elmwood cemetery markham by bill mcgee atha the residents of atha enjoyed their 5th annual beef barbecue at the atha com munity centre on saturday august 14 one hundred and sixty people attended sitting down to a meal of fresh rolls and butter succulent barbecued beef and gravy foil wrapped baked potatoes with sour cream baked beans cabbage salad and coffee with soft drinks and watermelons for the youngsters the final treat was a selection of home made pies baked and donated by the housewives of the area the dining hall was decorated with the latest oilpaintings of mr gordon pearce and the portrait of mr arthur latcham who generously bought the school when it was closed and donated it to the township for community use picnic tables were placed on the grounds for the overflow and the in termittent showers cleared soon enough for those who preferred outdoor meals the folks then gathered under the trees in the cool of the evening discussing mrs thomas little scarborough lady enjoyed long life scarb0ro mrs thomas little one of scarboros renowned senior citizens passed away aug 3 at the altamont nursing home she was 94 she war born jean glendinning grand daughter of archibald wee kare day north half of the family farm he married isabella robertson and they raised a family of five daughters and one son mary mrs george young steena mrs archibald bell lissa and ar chibald deceased and jean mrs little miss ethel glen dinning a retired missionary still lives in agincourt in 1901 jean glendinning married thomas little they farmed at elm rouge until mr littles death in 1946 the farm was sold and mrs little spent the remaining years of her life with her daughters florence mrs jc malcolmson and helen mrs fc johnston mrs little will be remembered by her many friends as a fine christian woman she was a member of the melville presbyterian church in west hill until 1925 when the family became members of the new united church until she left the farm she was a member of st andrews united church in markham and at the same time she was an active member of the wms at zion church when she moved to toronto she became a charter member of armour heights united church her funeral was conducted by the rev rowan binning with interment at melville cemetery in west hill mrs little leaves a family of four florence and helen in toronto archibald and harris in waubaushene she
