through the tribune ken laushway mayor town of whitchurchstouffville is asked to present his own personal opinion on issues of local interest questions are posed by the tribune or from ratepayers through the tribune question what is the proper procedure to follow if a ratepayer wishes to address either council or planning board and what are their meeting d- ates answer whitchurchstouffville council meetings are on the second tuesday 730 pm and fourth tuesday 130 pm of each month the planning board meets on the first tuesday 730 pm of each month to address such meetings ratepayers are required to inform the clerks of fice in advance of preparing the agenda stating briefly the subject matter to be discussed and the approximate time of attendance answer the by all ratepayers council must study any new program that provides a service to certain areas with a charge across the entire municipality such a project would involve expenditures in men and machines that would be paid for question snow- shovelling on stouff ville sidewalks by individual home owners is not in my opinion satisfactory could not this work be assumed by the town or better still provide work for persons now unemployed many of whom would receive no direct benefit as for aiding the unemployed it would be difficult to hire help then lay them off again on short notice when the ser vice is no longer required markham the advocates of the womens liberation movement would have beat their breasts with pride thursday if they had been seated on the annual meeting of the markham fair board question have you any longrange plans for the resort centres of musselmans and preston lakes answer no long- range development plans with regard to musselmans and preston lakes have been discussed by the 1971 council i per sonally feel that whitchurchstouffville is fortunate to have these beautiful lakes within the municipality and steps should be taken to protect them against the hazards of pollution this cannot be accomplished by the council alone but will require the co operation of residents who live there it is my opinion with respect to preston during the course of discussion several ladies observed that of the twentyfour directors junior and senior 1970 only two were women one of these they noted had reached the end of her term to add six ladies to the list as suggested would require a change in the con stitution one of the directors pointed out this he said could not be done without a notice of motion however the womens demands found support with several man two of whom charged that such a motion had already been in troduced some of the men lake that boats with large motors should be banned this body of water is not large enough to ac commodate this type of craft kinette dance friday night are
