monday september 24th 1951 at 800 pm in the veterans hall unionville to discuss general rink business for the coming reason all rink supporters are urged to nttend for the crosby memorial community centre h a maynard chairman a k harrington treasurer move up into the top spot in the tricounty league along with sutton it was a brilliant perform ance staged by the veteran right hander all the way with one batter after another fading away under his pitching skill the big expro credited himself with thirteen strike outs and allowed but two hits during the entire game it was stouffvilles night all the way as the local batters returned to their hitting ways and pounded the ball to the far corners of the park ken scheh came up with the best smash hit of the night with a four bagger in to the wrong field with two aboard in the fifth inn ings to run the score up to five chadwick came up with two hits in four turns at bat as did cadieux and lome schell brother ken had a perfect night with two singles a home run and a walk in four trips to bat both clubs went scoreless- until the fourth innings when cook k schell hassard and jennings all reached base safely cadieux singled to drive two runs in but smith hit into a double play to retire the side the homesters added three more runs in the fifth off the grand slam homer by catcher ken schell one of the nicest plays on the bases was made by short stop lome schell who fielded a long roller in deep short and hurled hard to chadwick for a close out at first jennings pulled off some nice base running in the seventh stealing to second and then stopping half way the catcher- threw the ball to escond and hassard who was standing on third raced home to score the bewildered second baseman then fired the ball home too late and allowing jennings to tag up with a stolen base to his credit walt smith came up with a nice catch in the outfield coming jn fast to i snag a well placed ball in the final innings after a short batting slump the locals seemed to be once again hitting their stride they journey to cambray on fri day night of this week and then have a double session with wood- ville to wind up the regular schedule a decision on the playoff set up should be forthcoming at an earlv date cook injured red sox lose to sutton 53 although the red sox pulled off one of the nicest double plays we have seen this season l schell to hassard to chadwick the locals went down to defeat at the hands of sutton green sox in memorial park on friday night by the win sutton took over undisputed possession of first place in the tri- county round robin championship race but the red sox have a game in hand on their first place rivals cook went to the mound for the homesters but had to retire in the third innings when hit on the arm by a fielded ball lome schell went in to replace the injured cook and allowed four hits and struck out four cook gave up six hits and had four strike outs in the three innings in which he was in action hurler george holborne put on a nice pitching display and al though he showed some signs of weakening in the final innings he was never in trouble he gave up seven hits and fanned twelve the fourth the visitors ran up a 50 lead only in the seventh and final innings could the homesters bring any batting power to bear as three runs romped home with but one down however with two runners on base hassard and cadieux went down before the hurling power of holborne and the game was over chadwick has shown the best hitting power for the red sox and he kept his recent batting average intact with a double and single in three trips to the plate some of the red sox power hitters died time and time again without a hit dining the entire game the umpir ing came in for a good deal of criticism by the local players the series looks like a tight race as the teams have reached the half way mark in the schedule and every game won or lost may mean the difference between winning the championship or dropping out of the finals sutton and stouffville deadlocked for first place sutton- and stouffville are at the present time deadlocked for the top rung in the tricounty cham pionship round robin series and with both teams having three remaining games it would appear that they might possibly finish the schedule in that position unless one of the teams is knocked off by a lower club by virture of their win on monday night the red sox- squared themselves with their northern rivals lindsay has pulled up into third spot followed by sonya and cambray who are tied for fourth woodville is trail-
