blown from the building but fortunately no one was injured in the blast fete school principal principal l c murphy of stouff ville high school who is leaving the local staff this june was honoured at the annual student picnic held at shadow lake on fri day of last week mr murphy was presented with a handsome wrist watch and an address of apprecia tion from the students lome boadway made the research held at guelph this conference was attend ed by representatives from every part of ontario mrs ridout retir ing president was presented with a crystal and silver bowl in apprec iation of her three years of splen did service the convener of ways and means for the past three years mrs sanderson was also the recip ient of a pottery hostess plate as a momento of her untiring effort in this office a further pleasant sur prise was the presentation of two dozen colorful cups and saucers to the institute by two members readings of interest were given completing an interesting program the annual drumhead service of the stouffville legion will be held in memorial park on sunday afternoon june 17th the total contributions to the salvation army red shield appeal has reached a total of 9300 any further contributions would be greatly appreciated and must be in by june 15 len wilkes chairman of the public school board has reported that all the teachers have signed a contract for the coming school year mrs wm 1 patterson and daughter evelyn of newmarket visited with the formers sister and brotherinlaw mr and mrs jos winterstein last sunday also their son eugene now living in geraldton visited his parents while here on business last week eugene with his wife and family has recently moved to geraldton he is working as an electrical engineer with the dept of high ways and expects to be in gerald ton for possibly a year eugene says the tribune is a very wel come visitor each week when you are so far away from home little june kmmerson daughter of mr and mrs mel emmerson main st stouffville was rushed to the sick childrens hospital tor onto op sunday afternoon where she was found to have suffered a skull fracture the little girl had been playing on the verandah of the family home and tumbled off the railing striking her head on the sidewalk it was not thought at first that she had suffered any serious injury other than a bad bump above the eye however her parents became alarmed at her con dition a short time after and sum moned dr s s ball who ordered her removed to hospital has outgrown trophy the jos clark memorial trophy which has graced a spot in the front office of the tribune for nine of the eleven years in which it has been up for competition was returned last week to montreal where it will be presented to the winner of the best allround news paper in towns of 1500 population and under at the annual sessions of the ontario quebec weekly newspapers association the tri bune was first presented with the trophy in 1939 and again in 1950 winning all
