operating and capital budgets council received the draft 2008 operating 288 million and capital 483 million budgets for their information a special council meeting will be held january 29 at 9 am the town is seeking assistance from residents to meet new provincial water quality legislation the legislation requires that private residential plumbing and municipal water systems be tested for the presence of lead testing is to take place in both the communities of stouffville and ballantraemusselmans lake and residents are encouraged to take part in the towns volunteer lead testing program priority will be given to older homes which may have private lead water services or plumbing this program will involve testing tap water twice a year in the volunteers home all sampling will be undertaken by identified town waterworks staff members although the town has a longstanding practice to replace iead pipes within its distribution system there may be some privatelyowned lead pipes
