be held at markville shopping centre feb 13 at 2 pm more than 200 people are expected to attend the 90minute ceremony said john hawco president of the proud to be canadian association its been 40 years since the red-and- white maple leaf design was approved as canadas flag mr hawco said by hold ing the celebration were trying to instill pride in our flag and pride in our country its a celebration of our shared values our common citizenship and our sense of belonging to this great rich diverse land we all call home the event includes a reaffirmation of canadian citizenship ceremony the canadian flag will be unfurled by york regional police chief armand la barge arid markham fire chief don mcclean they will then lead everyone in singing 6 canada taking part in the event will be
