public information session feb 10 the ventin group architects is presenting its draft concept and business plan for a the atrecultural centre including comments from a public meet ing dec 6 public input will also be welcomed at next thursdays meeting the architects will formulate a final plan and drawings that could be presented for councils consideration as early as next month the draft concept includes drawings of the proposed facili ty which has been scaled down from the more than 18000 square feet suggested in the ventin groups feasibility study in december that would have infringed on the stouffvuie lawn bowling clubs green and an adjacent parking lot at that time an estimated cost of 25 million was given by the archi tect this is the third goaround on the building for the ventin group several years ago it did a study on the building for the clock tower theatre association and later for thencouncillor sue sherban who brought forward a proposal for a theatre in the councils approved winter maintenance service levels as summarized below genera information the inspection of roads during the winter maintenance season begins the third friday of november and continues until the second friday of april road patrols are carried out each morning commencing at 330 am seven 7 days a week the sanding and plowing of roads is generally carried out in accordance with the classifica tion of roads arterial roads such as main street and the tenth line receive preferred services at all times these roads are major carriers of traffic and generally connect with major regional andor provincial roads collector roads provide access to town arterial roads and regional arterial roads examples of this type of road includes millard street stouffer street and hemlock road local roads such as ironwood crescent sawmill lane hill country drive etcetera are gen erally the final roads to be serviced these roads generally carry low volumes of traffic and are not reminded that bylaw 9857rd requires owners and occupants to remove ice and snow from sidewalks that are not maintained by the town snow removal a regular snow removal program is in place only for main street between albert street and park drive generally this activity will take place after the accumulation of snow on the shoul der of the road has reached 075 meters in height snow removal in other locations will take place on an as needed basis examples include when plowed or piled snow impede the safe and efficient movement of vehicular or pedestrian traf fic blocked access to fire hydrants creates unsafe sight distances children are using the snow piled in culdesacs as play areas bus stop locations the standing area and the windrow is cleared of snow and sanded as needed within twenty- four 24 hours of the end of a snowfall parking lots and parking at town facilities snow plowing and sanding of parking facilities is the responsibility of the public works department culvert steamingcleaning during the winter months road culverts and driveway entrance culverts are maintained on an as needed basis in order to prevent ice and snow accumulations which impede flow and cre ate hooding problems on road surfaces andor private properties different circumstances will require different approaches when providing the abovemen tioned services freezing rain prolonged unusual or unexpected weather conditions avail ability of staff equipment and materials may result in modified start timesand prolonged completion times further information on our road and sidewalk winter maintenance programs are available by calling the public works department additional winter reminders to assist the public works department with its winter maintenance activities residents are reminded of the following 1 over night parking restrictions are in place between december 1st and march 31st as stated in bylaw 89178 during the day to assist with the towns plowing oper ations wc asked that vehicles not be parked on the street until they have been serv iced 2 not to push snow from driveways on to the travel portion of the road 3 placing of garbage containers and blue boxes in driveways rather than on snow banks 4 when driving stay well back of snow plows as they arc on occasion required to back up during plowing operations 5 residents arc requested not to allow children to play on snow piles located on or at the side of the roads snow plow operators may not sec children playing in the snow 6 the municipality is not responsible for damage to items placed on town property by property owners examples of such items arc fences posts hedges shrubs concrete and wood driveway curbs removal of these items will aid in our road and sidewalk plowing operations and prevent damage to these property improvements
