policing or security work lillian wild a grade 11 student at stoufiville district secondary school band has double duty in tomorrows student music scholarship at her school she will play trombone in performers take to the stage tomorrow evening at the student music scholarship concert sponsored by st james presbyterian church the concert features dozens of singers dancers instrumen talists and bands among them is lillian wild a grade 11 student who plays the trombone in the stoufrviue district secondary school band she will also play some piano selections toronto youth band the 16yearold stouffville resident plays the euphonium in the hannaford youth band at the university of toronto she earned her grade 8 piano cer tificate last year and teaches piano to six local students the joy she derives from music is evident when speaking about what she does lillian began playing the trumpet this summer and is looking forward to learning the french horn i am working my way around the brass section she said with a laugh although she has chosen to concentrate more on the hannaford band this year lillian is working on grade 9 and 10 piano pieces i always wanted to play those fivepagelong sonatas she said now i am there her musical accomplish ments and desire to make music a career have been grati fying for dan mcconnachie her music teachen and with the entire wild household playing some instru ment or other lillians affinity for music isnt surprising her mom pat teaches piano her dad bob plays guitar older sis ter kaitlin plays piano and older brother brandon plays piano and guitar last year lillian played piano for the york durham academy for the performing arts production of joseph and the amazing technicolour dream coat her ultimate goal is to be a performer with a large orchestra or on her own playing music for disney films or teaching music at the secondary school level the annual music scholar ship concert which began 12 years ago continues to draw strong community support said gayle atkinson who organizes the concert with jim thomas and stuart mcelroy more bands choirs this year more schools are participating and some are sending bands and choirs every year a student is pre sented with a scholarship this years recipient is vocalist carly maclean a grade 12 sdss stu dent the talent level of concert performers continue to astound ms atkinson there are tiny little children singing and making music she said the senior high school bands are close to professional the concert starts 730 pm at sdss 183 bramblecres in stouffville admission is 4 at the door for adults children are admitted free proceeds go towards enhancing music programs at participating schools briefly legion services mark remembrance day veterans and dignitaries includ ing mayor sue sherban and mpp frank klees will be at the stouffville cemetery cenotaph for a stouffville royal canadian legion remem brance day wreathlaying ceremony sunday at 1pm a service follows at 2 15 pm in the legion hall on ninth line north of main street in stouffville on nov 11 the remembrance day service including a solemn wreathlaying begins at the legions cenotaph at
