accomplishment but for the stouffville district secondary school spartans junior boys rugby team a secondplace finish in mondays roundrobin segment of the barbarian cup wasnt good enough the spartans failed to qualify for tuesdays medal round in the 16- team tournament that attracts some of the best junior teams in ontario thespartans began the day which kicked off late due to wet field coridi- lions on an ominous note dropping a 1510 decision to gardinal newman catholic high school scarborough against north park collegiate brantford iri their second game the spartans rebounded with a hard- fought 50 win reqmrihga victory by 10 points or more in their final rpundrpbin game against park street collegiate institute orillia to finish atop in their pool x and earn a berth in the medal round me york region athletic association champions were halfway to their objective when they nursed a 100 lead at the break v but park street rallied for 17 unari swered points in me second half to vanquish any hopes thespartans had in fielding a medal spartans head coach jamie hewitt felt the outcome of the first game was criticalto their hopes we came put flat in the first game to a team that we shouldrit have lost to he said despite the disappointment hewitt tried to accentuate the posi tive on what he felt was a successful campaign v the kids played hard at this lever the barbarian cup
