the first and second floors complained of ear infections ear popping and other symptoms dr hanif kassam york regions new associate medical officer of health said these complaints likely have nothing to do with mould as far as im aware mould doesnt cause ear infections dr kassam said the finding of a little bit of mould in the basement is something of a red herring and not likely to be related to the symp toms the symptoms seem to be more acoustic in nature mr crawley said the most recent mould was discovered july 24 they found excessive moisture and possible mould growth he said all proper safety precautions were taken he said the buildings joint health and safety committee was informed about the problem at every step numerous types of tests have been conducted mr crawley said karen ras spokesperson for ontario realty corporation said the building has been tested for mould volatile organic compounds asbestos aldehy des carbon dioxide air pressure and humidity they were consistently within acceptable ranges she said the courthouse was closed for a year beginning june 2000 to eradicate toxic mould in the building which was con structed in 1980 several years after it was opened some of the brickwork had to be replaced to fix leaks ms ras said tuesday the type of mould removed last week had not yet been identified were still awaiting test results she said
