public schools and stouffville district secondary school even then he was involved in all aspects of athletic activities offered at elementary and secondary levels little did he know the combination of sports and academic excellence would take him to the ultimate in scholastic achievement a vice-princi- palship and several ontario tides it was- following graduation in 1969 from sdss that sanderson went on to obtain his teaching degree and a vice- principals post at fenelon falls later he would spend five years at ie weldon high school and one year at parkview public school both in lindsay in 1996 he was called back to fenelon falls where he serves today sandersons coaching career at fenelon falls has included soccer vol leyball basketball and track and field his list of accomplishments are long and include an ontario bantam base ball championship an ontario interme diate baseball championship and an ontario juvenile basketball champi onship for several summers he drove from lindsay to coach four stouffville teams to fastball tides his greatest thrill was coaching two championship clubs on which sons luc and josh were players winning a championship is always special but when family members are involved its extraspecial he says luc is currently enrolled at the university ofwestern ontario while josh jim thomas attends the university of guelph sandersons involvement goes beyond onfield coaching duties hes a director with the eastern ontario baseball association and convenes an 18team midget league wife jan also a teacher is equally active in sports including tennis and golf shes a member of the lindsay boys and girls club and a director with the lindsay hall of fame board the value of athletics at the sec ondary level is immeasurable he says due to labour unrest at fenelon falls high and many other schools staff par ticipation in extracurricular sports has dwindled to five per cent its a very sensitive emotionally- charged issue he says no matter what the outcome things will never be the same sanderson says he owes much to support received from his parents plus coaching assistance provided by the physical education staff at stouffville
