round of pics was held in septemberoctober 1999 and provided the public an opportunity ttf review the alternative facility sites and transmission main alignments under consideration and provide comments workshops were also held in november 1999 to obtain input on the alternatives tinder consideration local environmental conditions and the evaluation criteria the second round of pics was held in june 2000 and the public was invited to review and comment on the analysis and evaluation of alternative facility sites and transmission main alignments the selection of the preferred facility sites and transmission main alignment and the proposedjnitigation measures the third round of public information centres pics has been arranged to present the preliminary design of each facility site and the proposed mitigation measures to reduce impacts during construction and operation of the water supply the process this study is being conducted in accordance with the full review and approval requirements of the ea act at the completion of the study york region will formally submit its environmental assessment report to the ministry of the environmentfor review and approval third round of public information centres you are encouraged to attend the information centre and to relay your views so that they can be addressed during the study the purpose of the third round of public information centres is to present the commentsissues raised at the second round of pics present refinements to the preferred alternative present the preliminary design of the raw water pumping station located in petticoat creek park rp4 the water treatment plant located in markham in the vicinity of 11th concession road and 14th avenue t 4 and the water storage reservoir located in markham east of reesor road and north of 1 9th avenue r 1 y present the preliminary design of the transmission main alignment and shaft locationsfor the section of transmission main to be tunneled under whites road present the preferred construction access method including the use of rail haul for the removal of excavated material during the construction of the intake and raw water pumping station in petticoat creek park present the measures developed to mitigate impacts associated with the construction of the facilities the intake and transmission mains comments from this round of pics will be incorporated in the ea as appropriate a draft ea reprt will be prepared and made available for public and agencyreview prior to finalizing and submitting to the minister of the environment in march 2001 the
