urbanism designer andres duany offered a developmentwide concept- something cohen insists was necessary if there wasnt a master plan of some sort everybody would just build their own thing- he saidat least everyone will be working toward the same concept and it wont be developed on an ad hoc basis 1 r announced in april 1999 it would locate its new 125rnillibn research and development cam pus on an 80acre parcel south of embassy suites on warden avenue and motorola one of canadas largest hightech companies announced in june it would open a sevenstorey 224000squarefoot office on the east side two secondary schools 55000 square metres of retail space and 390000 square metres of other office and employment lands that will create 17000 jobs the goal is to connect the north side ofwarden as well to include pedestrian and vehicle access to the civic centre the markham theatre and the fiveacre park planned across the street on cox boulevard the plan of the municipality is to provide high- density development in an area where it makes sense as opposed to spreading it out over different locations duoba said we are making sure we continually keep the big picture in mindv while there are dozens of landowners includ ing both developers and private citizens the remington plan represents the core of the site and is much further along in termsbf the planning process than anyone else duoba
