recipients of awards and hon ours and others deserving of recognition to start out congratulations are extended to frances hummel wencel a longtime resident of stouffville who cur rently lives in the parkview apartments frances celebrated her 90th birthday on feb 27 she marked the occasion this past weekend at a small party with her family generous businesses recognition also goes to graham hoad owner of the lion of stouffville and kim everson owner of stouffville florist both businesses donated prizes to the recent mystery resume contest held by the neighbourhood employment resource centre ruth robinson employment facilitator at the centre says both hoad and everson did not hesitate in their generosity contestants were required to identify eight resumes and put them in order winners were then entered into a draw one winner received lunch at the lion and two others got bou quets from stouffville florist kudos to students in school news ballantrae public school had six winners in the grade 8 writing of the canadian mathematics league contest ian davenport katie akey gavin howe and becky smith placed first through fourth and elise miles and joel roberts tied for fifth in the con test which was written this past monday at last weeks recognition assembly whitchurch highlands public school con gratulated the winners of the feb 11 primary spelling bee sarah law kristin gropp melanie pretorius and nicole kiatipis were the great spellers library seeks books the whitchurchstouffville public library is looking for vol unteers and donations for its annual book sale which takes place this year may 4 to 7 last years sale raised over 5000 for the library volunteers are used to sort and sell the books donations of books that are janet richards in fairly good shape are greatly appreciated childrens books are especial ly sought even if they are a little tattered they are sold as well- used and loved books the library does not want donations of magazines or encyclopedias
