junior girl golfers from tennessee and four from canada will take to the york downs golf and country club course on monday andtuesday to compete in the fourth annual ruth eller cup matches the event which is held in canada every other year are conducted using a modified curtis cupcommonwealth for mat with two fourball matches on monday starting at 8 am and two foursome matches at 1 pm four singles matches are scheduled to be played on tuesday at 8 am one point is awarded for a win or a half point to each team or player for a tie after completing the 18hole matches in the event of a tie in total points scored the defending team will retain the ruth eller cup team canada won the first two events and team tennessee was last years winner representing team canada are ontario golfers jennifer jaszek 16 lindsay knowlton 17 and jessica shepley 16 rounding out the foursome is quebec native lisa meldrum 17 pauline kelly of ontario is the nonplaying captain representing team tennessee usa are samantha fox may wood brooke hizson and joni gossett maggie scott is the nonplaying captain the rum eller cup matches were founded in 1996 by stouffville resident marlene streit and judy eller street of tennessee to bring together four outstanding junior girl golfers from tennessee and canada for two days of competi tive match play the event was named in honour of judy streets mother ruth eller one of the pioneers of tennesse junior golf the competing entitities select the team members by a procedure determined by the marlene stretit awards funds which was established in 1965 and
