finish spartans hope to spike up a storm the stouffville minor atom clippers fell just short in a marathon 61 minute semifinal over time thriller at the annual markham waxers hockey tournament over the weekend the clippers won their first two pre liminary games edging the markham islanders 21 before bouncing the ajax raiders 61 a 22 tie with the east gwillimbury eagles placed the stouffville squad second to the eagles by a half a point in the divisional standings the clippers skated to a 21 regulation time draw with firstplace innisfil in the semifinals before playing two 10minute periods and a threeminute overtime session according to tournament rules each team then took one player off the ice for a minute with no score with each team icing three players innis fil finally broke the the eight ball the team saw its first action at a tournament in mississauga last satur day dropping their first six matches before coming back to win three of their final four contests the spartans swept st pauls catholic high school of toronto in two games their momentum continued to build in an exhibition set with markville secondary school on monday as they took two of three to win the set
