which prohibits most retail outlets from opening town clerk michele kennedy reminds consumer and business own ers alike that stores can be open on canada day here in stouffville whitchurchstouffville was grant ed an exemption from the act in 1995 because of strawberry festival kennedy explained local merchants have been calling the town office expressing concern after reading stories in newspapers that the retail business holiday act is in effect in municipalities across ontario kennedy stressed that some stores may open in municipalities which have enacted bylaws in accor dance with the act
