this spring have been replaced this week fred mayor lost the presidency of the local ontario public school teacher fed eration in a recent election his counter part in the women teachers association joan heeler could seek another term because of a union rule the two groups are expected to merge next year across the province into a single federation the elementary teachers fed eration of ontario local elementary teachers came within hours of starting a strike in march mayor president for seven years faced three elec tion opponents last month including the man who won dean education school board policies mayor added thats one thing you have to know a good grasp of federation and school board policies is one thing you have to know backwards and forwards or youre not very effective in this job fred mayor bodkin two of the candi dates were against the way we handled the strike mayor said this week bodkin principal of crosslands pub- lie school in new market has a good grasp of said this week the federation has a new vision one of working together with the board said new first vicepresident corey trute a teacher at central park public school in markham the new president for women teachers is pam gillan the current local vicepres ident who won a recent election over another member of the executive regine baker current president joan heeler who was not eligible for another saturday this saturday m m meat shops across canada will fire up the barbecues in support of the crohns and colitis foundation of canada ccfc this years fundraising goal is 500000 m m established the charity barbecue day for crohns disease and ulcerative colitis the event is now the single largest fundraising event for the ccfc and like the other major chari ty events it counts on the help of many thousands of volunteers to ensure its success more than 4000 volunteers will spend the day flipping burgers handing out goodies or providing supplies for the events across the country we are proud to national execu tive director for the ccfc crohns disease and ulcerative colitis are two painful and chron ic diseases that are often referred to as ibd tens of thousands of canadians suffer from ibd and anyone can develop the disease regardless of gender age or race ibd is non contagious but the cause and cure remain a mystery
