spartans win tourney title ho hum that sums up the surprise factor as the stouffville district secondary school spartans boys fastball team romped to the title at the bradford tournament on friday the spartans who also captured the tournament title last year struck early and often as they swept all three games played outscoring their opponents 402 the spartans routed holy trinity 141 in their opener as pitcher kevin hackert fanned 1 1 batters while slugging a homer to help his own cause mark myer also had a round tripper in the second game pitcher paul koert fanned 14 and lashed out a homer and triple to lead the spar tans to a 121 win over huron heights in their sec ond game meyer homered and tripled and hackert socked a round tripper as well as the spartans blanked brad ford 140 in their title game brett boyd also had a triple in the final the spartans kept their threeyear york region athletic association unbeaten streak alive with a 9- 5 win over huron heights last wednesday by meeting each sunday at 1 pm and wednes day at 7 pm at the recreation cen tre the uxbridge group meets sun day mornings at body fit the idea of these groups is to lend support and enjoy the
