ifyoure going to make a goof ball of yourself in front of four or five hundred people observed wendy cowie who joined the cast of music mania last year with her husband ross the cowies moved into town from markham in the fall of 1994 and their only regret is that they didnt do so sooner ross was born and raised in markham and he had never heard of music mania until we moved he even bought his first car here in 1965 and has just sold it wendy noted my teen years were spent in stouffville and when we came back i still had the same car it came home to rest and so did i said ross with a wry chuckle resting it seems is not on the agenda for the energetic easygoing couple who own heritage ice cream parlour and deli on main street they were introduced to music mania through new friends at the united church when they asked if we were going to join we decided to get a feel for the town first and then decide said wendy we went to see the show and invited friends from holy services for week production they were bowled over by the professionalism and scope of music mania our friends loved it and we loved it arid we couldnt wait for the next year so that we could be involved at least wendy couldnt ross like a lot of men was somewhat reluctant about performing at first but let himself be persuaded and is now delighted that he took the plunge and said wendy she saw a whole new side of her husband when he took part in one of the skits this man is mr conservative i never imagined he would be stand ing on stage wearing black and red satin valentine undershorts last year they were both in the chorus and skits this year they will only be in the chorus because the busi ness demands most of their time its fun but its also a lot of hard work with long hours she said they have built up a loyal clientele since they opened last august and wendy is also kept busy with the catering side of the business which handles everything from corporate events to private parties our regu lars come in and everybody knows everybody else and they all chat with each other it often ends up being like a little party were both people people ross noted you have to be that way or you couldnt do this he also thinks stouffville is fortunate in having an agreeable teenage population when we first opened here we put out our cow sign it was up for two or three days and the arm was broken off the next day i was try ing to fix it when a couple of kids came along and asked if they could help i think the kids here are just fine tickets for music mania go on sale april 2 and from now until the show is over the cowies will be brewing up plenty of strong coffee to keep them and their customers going said wendy with a cheerful grin hwy 404 xuj iii x stouffville rd for vendor or market info call 905 6403813
