arc a lot of people to thank this years parade was our biggest ever with 50 floats and five bands the kinsmen club deserves a big thank you for all of the hard work and effort put in to making the parade such a success this would not have been possible without our marshall steve davis who was he backbone to the fantastic organization of the parade the list of contributors towards the parade is christmas season is upon us for most people the years end represents a time for reflecting on past events and eagerly anticipating the future i would like to take this opportunity to advise you of several note worthy items that have occurred over the past year according to the canadian centre for justice statistics york region remains one of the safest communities in canada statistics gathered thus far indicate that the total criminal occurrences reported during 1995 have remained virtually unchanged from 1994 the members of the force participated in many fundraising initiatives for charity yorks participation in the law enforcement torch run for special olympics raised 34500 for men tally and physically challenged athletes and persechinis easter seal runwalkathon raised over 3000 for hand icapped children the force also embarked on a teddy bear program for children in distress the members have also organized a quiet drive to gather food which will be distributed to needy families within the region for christmas we are looking forward to 1996 with much anticipation as we will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of york regional police on behalf of the members of york regional
