town square friday to welcome in christmas with the festival of bells master of ceremonies jim rehill did a sterling job welcoming mayor wayne emmerson who was on hand to light up the big tree and lead ing everyone in the bestloved carols of the season he did not flinch as those of us with voices which could most charitably described as offkey made up in enthusiasm for what we lacked in choral district secondary school thursday three groups of students had set up and run businesses in the school in the fall term with grade 11 students acting as their employees each group had to draw up a business plan and each gave a short presentation on what they had done and what they had learned from the experience all three groups made a profit and eastman congratulated them on their efforts and their innovative approaches to the problems they encountered following lunch guest speaker rick spence editor of profit maga zine told the students that todays market place was full of opportunities for the small business owner with the ability to identify new consumer needs flexibility low over heads arid innovative marketing methods give the entrepreneur a major advantage over large
