in conjunction with the ontario cham- ber of commerce and the ontario tourism education corporation is introducing the ontario superhost pro gram to its members the program consists of oneday seminars designed to raise the standards of service and hospitality provided to visitors and local customers participants learn how to interact more effectively with customers clients visitors and guests they also learn about the attractions of their commu nity and region so they can assist visitors while promot ing the area in general according to chamber past president helene johnson ontario superhost is part of an international network which originated with the training of thousands of peo ple in the hospitality industry at the 1986 world expo in vancouver bc the concept which has taken hold in such diverse places as australia and new zealand eng land and the united states has grown to include the retail transportation banking medical and public ser vice the program can be offered by any registered not-for- profit communitybased or tourismrelated organization people who live in town as well as visitors needs to know whats here said johnson who will lead the local seminars after taking a training course in toronto the seminars will be open to 20 employers employees group members or individuals at a time they are to be held in an office in stouffvilles west end mall with a cost of 50 well as vintage automobiles and motorcy cles other attractions will include a fanners market a bake sale organized by mem bers of the stouflville united church apple rider pressing arts and crafts a pet ting zoo free pony rides horse drawn wagon rides and free hot air balloon rides well have a continuous stage show from 11 to 4 which will include square dancing doggers and country and west ern bands upon admission you get a chance to win a champagne balloon flight for two through sundance balloons noted doherty there will be a log sawing display and rope making and kids can get involved and keep their souvenir nieces of rope an entire area will be set aside for children where they can participate in oldfash ioned games and races and the mill will be fully operational during the festival a childrens arts and crafts centre will also be set up and all supplies will be free with h its an excellent family day last year we had over 3700 people and were just getting bigger and better every year doherty said admission prices are slightly higher for the 1995 festival but they cover free events such as pony and wagon rides and hot air balloon rides the cost is 5 for adults 350 for seniors and 250 for chil dren in the meantime bruces mill is open throughout the summer and offers a natural beach area with chlorinated water picnic tables and walking trails officers take to the streets on bicycles four york regional police officers will be greeting residents of whitchurchstouffville from their bicycles this summer the department launched the bicycle police program last week on a
