this week to reflect on his first 100 days in the drivers seat when i wake in the morn- irig i look forward to coming here said emmerson i love sitting behind this desk every day is different i enjoy every aspect of it jetting whitchurch-stouf- fville ready for the hew cen tury is no easy feat we are indeed living in interesting times emmerson a lumber salesman in his other life joins mayors across canada in juggling yesterday today and tomorrow holding on to the good things of the past and at the same time embracing the future takes some doing but emmerson claims hes up for the job first things first he says the most urgent need facing whitchurch-stouf- fville is improving roads the mayor states getting people in and out of stouffville and wayne speaks on priorities were going to have to put more money into roads on council im told i let them talk too much and that i let them get hung up but im trying to strike a balance on expenditures we will do what we can and well do what we be discharged in whitchurchstouflville last tuesday whitchurch- stouftville council backed a call to put an end to letting people discharge firearms in the northern rural section of whitchurchstouflville the appeal for more gun control came from school officials and local residents alike lynne rubbens told coun cil that shes found a skinned deer and shot gun shells in her property just north of the aurora road its an ongoing problem said rubbens that part of the sideroad is well populat ed guns are also posing a safety threat to children the reality is schools have been built in rural parts of the municipality where shooting is permitted robert sandiford vice prin cipal of whitchurch high lands public school told the tribune im very concerned about the safety of children said sandiford people from the city will come up here look on this area as the country and start shooting the 450student school is located at warden ave and bloomington people just cant believe that you can by law shoot so close to the school said sandiford the vice principal asked that fire arms discharging be banned on lands sur rounding whitchurch high land public school bal
