fiveyear forecast the wish list is lengthy the capital budget items are expensive the need is great a long day is anticipated the grand total is 226 mil lion the meeting gets under way at the civic avenue municipal building at 9 am sharp copies of the capital fore cast will be available to the public just before the meet ing begins mayor wayne emmerson stressed that the towns five- year capital plan was struck by a previous council this council is going to take a hard look at it and try to figure out which way well go said emmerson he added it is an opportunity for council to see which way well go with what we have since the capital project agenda will take whitchurchstouffville into the next century council rec ognizes that serious deci sions must be made the earth day celebrated this night will be hockey night in stouffville begin ning this september if all goes according to plan for george stavro the 31yearold richmond hill resident and former junior b hockey player was given the goahead to start up a team in stouffville by the provincial junior a hockey league april 10 final approval by the ontario hockey association oha board of directors is expected to be a rubber stamp process when that body meets may 10 stavro who has three years experience as coach and general manager of the tier two junior aajax axemen and north york rangers has been eying stouffville as a possi ble junior a site ever since a conditional offer made by another party to bring a team to town fell through two years ago i played an exhibition game at the old arena in stouf fville with the henry carr junior b team in the early 1980s and the place was packed stavro told the tribune friday ive never forgotten that and i think the interest is still there while details regarding ice time still must be finalized with the whitchurchstouffville minor hockey associa tion wsmha the self employed entrepreneur is confi dent the new team will be a boost for hockey in stouffville its a go for september he told the tribune friday minor hockey wsmha is looking at this as a joint ven ture instead of having bantam and midget kids leaving to play elsewhere theyll now have a chance to stay in town stavro said he plans to hold practices out of town until a second pad is built he said he would attempt to find extra ice time for wsmha in neighboring rinks to make up for the three hours needed fori saturday night games if the new arena eventually comes stavro said he would be able to help guarantee its full usage with a second ice pad id commit to at least 10 hours a week id also be running hockey schools and clinics stavro said the stouffville team has worked out an affiliation arrangement with the uxbridge bruins of the central ontario junior c hockey league every effort will be made to have local players stavro on the new club he insisted ive been watching stouf fville kids on other junior teams and i feel there would be from 610 stouffville players on the team the first year im also looking to bring in a few 15 year old players who played with midget aaa teams this year to play and go to school here stavro listed kyle osborne ryan burkholder ryan jef ferson dave giancoulos
