first hand work experience this spring last year we only had six stu dents go out into the community and do a partnershipbased pro ject with the figure skating pro gram said eastman the rest of the class stayed in the school and did things inside this year all the kids want to go out and we have given them a choice of three pro jects to work on the first is the whitchurch- stouffville chamber of com merce directory the second is a fashion show and the third is designing flyers for local busi ness people she said although students from last years class ran their own fash ion show in 1994 plans had to be drastically scaled down as a result of a teachers work to rule this year however it will be a major event involving the com munity as well as the students and will be held in the evening eastman said and we have a lot of business es that would like us to design flyers for them so every kid is now doing a partnership pro ject six oac students from last years class will be assisting as leaders in the 1995 program as part of their administrative studies course i thought it would be nice for stouffville to know that theres a very big program happening at the high school thats involv ing at least 41 students in a brand new type of educational project i wrote to the ministry of economic development and told them all about my program and they gave me a grant which the board of education will match it will be a major undertaking for eastman the adults who will be helping her run it and her students and community support will be a vital element in its success affair of the heart as part of its person to person campaign for heart and stroke grape vine kaie gilder da month representatives from the local chapter of the heart and stroke foundation of ontario are holding a victorian tea on feb 11 at the united church in stouffville from 1 to 4 pm a silent auction will be held during the event which will also feature boutique shopping with a host of beautiful and unique the barnes revisited the series provides back ground on albert barnes and some of the artists featured in his famous collection part of which was recently exhibited at the art gallery of ontario beginning feb 7 and running for three consecutive tuesdays the series examines the work of edouard manet claude monet and paul cezanne the final film is entitled citi zen barnes an american dream and
