stolen bymikeruta staff reporter sheraton antiques owner andy munro has lost his seat rather it was taken from him the large mahogany chair he has used to this is the chair that was stolen direct customers to his store was stolen over the weekend for the unidentified thieves it was quite a job the chair is six feet tall four feet wide and weighs at least 200 pounds they struggled with it said munro you should see their tracks in the snow he has managed to keep a sense of humor about the theft because it was so improba ble the thieves had quite a time freeing the chair from where it was anchored to the ground munro said they then moved the chair to a dark spot behind some trees to await the pickup vehicle he thinks the theft took place on saturday night adding that two men hanging around dainty donuts about midnight aroused some sus picion the men used the telephone behind the counter to call for a ride so munro believes they were caught on the security camera he said police have been called and will investigate the theft each time we talk to somebody we get more little bits of information said munro i cant believe even though it hap pened late at night that no one saw an unwieldy piece of furniture old old for new old education teachers settle by lucy policelli correspondent york region elementary school teachers are one step closer to a signed collective agreement the teachers negotiating team has recom mended acceptance of a tentative contract with the york region board of education the teachers have been working without a deal since sept 1 1993 on saturday the board and the elemen tary teachers union announced a tentative agreement had been reached but a date for ratification has yet to be set it has been a long and difficult negotiat ing process said in the province and can be expected to maintain their leadership position for another three years the salary grid was raised 11 per cent over the 199193 period through an earlier con tract bruce said
