continues to roll over the opposition the spartans made it three straight wins to open the season last week when they defeated port perry high school 4639 on the road monday then came home to down game the sdss defence was disciplined while danielle timms and jen reesor led the offence with 10 points each shannon timms and jen easter hooped six points apiece the spartans defence was near flawless against langstaff offensively shannon timms went to the hoop for 18 points with sister danielle close behind with 17 points jen east er and jen reesor each had 14 points the sdss junior girls has come to sport notes the bruins after a season split between the central ontario aaa wolves midgets and the stouffville midget rep team he was an outstanding centre with the omha title winning stouffville bantams two years ago and also played with the provincial champion atoms in 198788 burkholder who was side lined with a charley horse recently has his sights set on moving up to junior b next sea son in the meantime hes look ing forward to a fun season helping the bruins regain their respectability in the central ontario hockey league wideman who lives in gorm- ley is back in the area after spending two years at niagara christian school in fort erie he started out last season with the chippewa junior c team before being traded to the junior b fort erie meteors of the golden horseshoe league he also spent some time with the fort erie midgets wideman 18 played with the stouffville bantams for the 199091 season he is currently taking a year sabbatical from school and is working at the national sports clearance centre in newmar ket snooks makes squad brian snooks who starred with the stouffville district secondary school sdss spar tans ofsaa finalist senior boys volleyball team last fall has made the university of waterloo volleyball team according to jim fletcher snooks coach with the spar tans last year snooks was among the final 15 of the 80 players who came out to try for the varsity squad snooks is studying physical education and recreation at the waterloo university spartans challenged fletchers spartans perennial york and durhamyork dys- saa volleyball champs have a fight on their hands this time around it seems the boys from sutton dhs have made it their mis sion to dethrone the sdss hot- shots the sutton squad downed the spartans when the two teams met to begin the reg ular season last month at sdss they were to go at it again tuesday in sutton and accord ing to fletch the sutton gym was going to be filled to capaci ty the school was to offer all stu dents a buy out to get out of class and into the gym to cheer their team on the stouffville school often does the same thing for a big game might as well learn from the best after a soso start the spar tans have started to come on of late they swept king city hs and huron hts ss last week in preparation for their big test with sutton fletch is relishing the sutton challenge he has full respect for the sutton players and coaching staff and feels it will bring out the best in both teams as for his spartans he has been particularly pleased with the setting of michael green and jamie sheraton and the power hitting of dave giancou los and matt brillinger the rookieladen spartans will be a true test of fletchers noted coaching abilities for those who enjoy the excitement of intense amateur sport with no dollars involved it might be an idea to pick up a schedule for the spartans home games from the high school
